Susan Bartlett, Ph.D. Professor of Medicine (Adjunct)

Dr. Susan Bartlett is a Clinical Psychologist with clinical and research interests in health psychology and behavioral medicine.  Her clinical work focuses on encouraging positive health behaviors (weight loss, physical activity and treatment adherence) in individuals with chronic medical conditions and helping physicians to counsel their patients more effectively in these areas.  Research interests focus on clinical treatment trials.  She is the recipient of an NIH K23 award to study the effects of weight loss and exercise on symptoms of knee OA, and first recipient of the American College of Rheumatology’s Lawren Daltroy Fellowship in Patient Clinician Communication. She serves as Principal Investigator on NIH sponsored studies evaluating RA medications and treatment outcomes, and yoga in persons with RA.  Dr. Bartlett is also co-investigator on several other NIH sponsored trials on adherence to therapy, mind-body medicine and enhancing the validity of self-reports. She currently serves on an advisory council to the Arthritis Foundation.
