Patient-Centered Outcomes Research at Johns Hopkins Rheumatology

Patient-Centered Outcomes Research gives patients the ability to tell their story. By filling out questionnaires that ask about fatigue, pain, stiffness and depression, patients are able to have more in-depth conversations with their rheumatological doctors about the areas in their life that need the most attention. The PCOR initiative and new way of conducting research has brought improved results in patient’s daily life.

Dr. Tiniakou’s research interest is in the specific mechanisms of the Myostis disease. She works hard in the lab to uncover the latest breakthrough discoveries.

Dr. Grader-Beck began his career interested by autoimmune diseases. He values building strong relationships with his patients and helping them through every step of the way. He takes away the “unknown” of the disease by informing patients and giving them great medical care.

Dr. Haque, who is a part of the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center, enjoys the challenge of doing the “detective work”, meaning uncovering answers that are groundbreaking in this cognitive field. She is specifically interested in how inflammation of the joints correlates with patient nutrition.

Laura Manning, RN, works with doctors, office coordinators, research staff and fellow nurses to improve overall patient outcomes. Laura loves the exciting discoveries that occur at Johns Hopkins.

Meet Dr. Laura Cappelli

Meet Dr. Cappelli

Dr. Cappelli works closely with mostly patients who suffer from Inflammatory Arthritis. Johns Hopkins has greatly interested her in autoimmune diseases, as she completed her medical schooling, residency and rheumatology fellowship in Baltimore before she was invited to join the Arthritis Center faculty.

Meet Dr. Myma Albayda

Meet Dr. Albayda

Dr. Albayda came to the US in order to receive the best training possible for her career. During her time as a fellow at Johns Hopkins, she was inspired by the excellence all throughout the institution, motivating her to become a permanent doctor at the University. Now, Dr. Albayda specializes in Myositis and is the Director of the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Injection Clinic.
