Electronic Medical Records in Rheumatology

Dr. Bingham explains to us the electronic medical system used at Johns Hopkins and how it has opened new avenues of communication between doctors and patients with its collaborative features.

Meet Dr. Bingham

Dr. Bingham, the Director of the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center, started his career as a laboratory scientist. He then moved on to working with Rheumatoid Arthritis patients and obtaining their samples directly. He came into this field at its inception — when new drugs were coming into the market and arthritis patient care was becoming more important.

Annual Rheumatology Conference

The Annual Rheumatology Medical Education Conference has been a huge beneficiary for rheumatologists around the country. Hosted in downtown Baltimore by Johns Hopkins doctors, this two-day conference offers speaker sessions, courses and Q&As on groundbreaking newsworthy rheumatological topics. Going on its 12th year, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

Arthritis Center Clinical Research Team

The clinical research team at the Johns Hopkins Division of Rheumatology is one comprised of dedicated, understanding and talented researchers who truly know the hardships rheumatic patients have to live with on a daily basis. They record data and information which in turn leads to better medical care patients receive in our clinic.

Education: A Part of Our Mission

Johns Hopkins Division of Rheumatology dedicates a large amount of time to educating their patients about their diseases so that they are able to understand the entire scope of their conditions. There is a large effort in disseminating information to patients and their families in order to inform them about everything they need to know about their disease moving forward.

A Team Approach to Care, Education and Research

The Arthritis Center has seven clinical doctors who work for the Division of Rheumatology that are very specialized in what they care for, giving our patients the best of the best care in the field. The Arthritis Center doctors also work closely with researchers, scientists and nurses to give patients a complete wholistic care.

What To Expect During Your Visit

Dr. Bingham walks us through what patients should expect during their clinical visit. Because Johns Hopkins is a research institution, trainees such as residents, fellows and medical students may be interacting with you during your session.

Medical Research at Our Center

Medical research takes many different forms, yet we focus ours on the patient. With the patient’s help on completing questionnaires about how they deal with their diseases, doctors and scientists can further the research initiative of comprehending all aspects of rheumatic illnesses.
