Purpose of Study: To study the impact of a healthy diet (fashioned after the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension [DASH] Diet to lower serum uric acid among patients with hyperuricemia, including adults with gout, who are not currently taking urate-lowering drugs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have been told you had or have gout by a health professional
  • Not be taking medications to lower uric acid (allopurinol, febuxostat, probenecid)
  • Be able to travel to the ProHealth Research Clinic

Professor of Medicine

Dr. Edgar Miller is a professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include hypertension and internal medicine. His research interests include non-pharmacologic therapies, hypertension and antioxidants.
