Dr. Hummers is very interested in research centered on answering overarching questions about the Scleroderma disease: Who is more prone to specific complications of Scleroderma? Who would react better to certain aspects of Scleroderma? These research findings will, in the long term, allow patients to fully understand their disease.

Dr. Cappelli works closely with mostly patients who suffer from Inflammatory Arthritis. Johns Hopkins has greatly interested her in autoimmune diseases, as she completed her medical schooling, residency and rheumatology fellowship in Baltimore before she was invited to join the Arthritis Center faculty.
